If you’ve ever wondered when to add pasta or rice to a recipe in the slow cooking, I’m sharing answers over at One Dish Dinners!
Being able to slow cook some meat in a sauce with some veggies all day, then add the starch at the end of the cooking cycle…makes for super simple, slow cooked, one dish dinners!

Speaking of rice, would you maybe do a post about how to cook rice? I feel silly, but I just can’t seem to cook brown rice very well. I don’t know what to look for and how to know it’s finished. I just follow the directions on the back of the box, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t…
Christy….I would suggest investing in a rice cooker. Rice will basically cook itself in a cooker but if you don’t want to cook, I would say to simmer brown rice on the stove for around 45 minutes. Try using quinoa instead of brown rice if you haven’t-it is a complete protien, more healthier than brown rice, and cooks in 15-20 minutes. I end up cooking my quinoa for 20 minutes.
Hope this helps some!
