Surviving Job Loss

by Erin, The $5 Dinner Mom on April 3, 2009

I came across a few posts this week about surviving job loss and navigating unemployment.  Thought I’d share them with you!

Kelly from Faithful Provisions has a post that shares some great ways to get through the tough times of unemployment!  I love the first piece of advice.  Something that should be encouraged!!!

Amy from Mom Advice tweeted about a new program that Walgreens is offering to those who are suffering from job loss. Amy also has 2 great articles on her site about living without health insurance and the lowdown on prescriptions.

Tara from Deal Seeking Mom shares a little of their personal experience and many great ways to cope during hard economic times!

There is also a fantastic article at MySanAntonio.com that addresses the emotions of umemployment and job loss!

These are MUST READS if you or someone you know is experiencing job loss at this time!

Thanks for the link, Erin! As I mentioned when I wrote that post, I was kind of ambivalent about sharing my situation. However, looking back I’m so glad I did. If my post helps just one person make it through a tough spot, then it was well worth it.

I think it’s great of you to do this. Many years ago my husband was out of work for one whole year, and it was then that we really had to get serious about living more frugally. We got through it, but it would have been nice to have connected with others going thru it at the same time too.

Thank you for taking the time to post and link us! My DH was recently laid off and money’s starting to get really tight. This was really enlightening. That conference Faithful Provisions mentioned sounds really nice… we’ve been to a different one before but that one sounds like it would “fit” with us better. Too bad it’s this weekend.
Thanks again, Erin!
