The $5 Dinners Weekly Meal Plan with Printable Grocery List

Scroll down and you’ll see a list of ingredients for each of the recipes included, in the order they are listed above. I’ll include ALL ingredients, including many that you already have in your pantry, refrigerator, or freezer. If you have those ingredients, just don’t click them!

Slopp-Cheesy Joe Sliders

1 lb. ground beef
1 15 oz. can sloppy joe sauce
8 to 10 dinner rolls
4 cheese slices, cut in half
Fresh fruit and veggies – apples & broccoli for us

Chili with Caramelized Onion Cornbread

2 lbs. ground beef
1 sweet white onion
4 cups chicken or beef broth
2 15 oz. cans diced tomatoes with their juices
1 6 oz. can tomato paste
1 lb. dried beans, 15 bean mix, red kidney beans, black beans or pinto beans
3 Tbsp chili powder


Caramelized Onion Corn Bread:

1 large sweet white onion, cut into thin strips
2 tsp olive oil
1 Tbsp white sugar
1 ½ cups white flour
1 ½ cups yellow cornmeal
1 Tbsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
2 Tbsp white sugar
¼ cup cooking oil, such as canola or vegetable
½ cup applesauce
2 eggs
2 ½ cups milk

Stovetop Italian Chicken with Potatoes

2 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
8 bone-in chicken thighs
About 2 lbs red potatoes
4 carrots
1 small onion
1 15 oz. can diced tomatoes
2 tsp Italian seasoning
Drizzles of olive oil

Caramelized Onion Grilled Cheese

1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
1 Tbsp white sugar
1 large white onion
2 Tbsp butter
about 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
4 slices Swiss cheese
8 slices whole wheat bread

Grilled Citrus Salmon Packets

4 salmon fillets, 1/4 lb. each
Dill weed
1 lemon
1 lime
1 orange
Serve with a side dish, such as fresh veggies, brown rice or grilled garlic bread

Slow Cooker Sweet Potato and Chicken Curry

1 can (15 oz.) light coconut milk
3 teaspoons curry powder
1 pkg (about 1.5 lbs.) boneless skinless chicken thighs
3 medium sweet potatoes
6 carrot sticks
1 small onion

Banana Breakfast Split

4 bananas
4 spoonfuls of Greek vanilla yogurt, or preferred flavor
Fresh blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and/or blackberries, about 2 cups total
about 1/2 cup granola (try my nut-free and no-added sugar homemade granola recipe)

Waffle Iron Cookies
