    Here’s a Red White and Blue smoothie for you all to try this holiday weekend!

    July 4th Smoothie

    It turns a magnificent purple color when blended!

    July 4th Smoothie

    A healthy and fresh patriotic treat!
    Prep Time5 minutes
    Cook Time0 minutes
    Servings - 4 servings

    Ingredients 

    • 1 banana
    • 1 cup milk, rice milk or yogurt
    • 6 large strawberries
    • 1 cup blueberries
    • 2 Tbsp ground flaxseed (optional)
    • 2 Tbsp favorite sweetener honey, agave syrup or sugar (I used agave)
    • Enough water to cover all the fruit (about 3-4 cups)

    Instructions

    • Add all ingredients and blend until smooth.
    • Drink!

      You can easily add spinach to this smoothy if you have greenaphobic kiddos like I do. My children NEVER know it’s in there…the bluberries hide it just right.

      I make this all the time, except I freeze the yogurt ahead of time (sometimes the fruit too) and use apple juice & honey to sweeten. Very yummy! I’ll have to try the flaxseed sometime.

      That looks absolutely wonderful! I have just started making green smoothies. The hubs say they taste good but he can’t get past the color to drink one. Tracay, I am going to take your advice and try and sneak some green into this purple beauty! 🙂
