Prep Time10 minutes minutes
Cook Time3 hours hours
Servings - 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 Italian sausage links
  • 15 oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 16 oz. bag frozen pepper and onion blend
  • 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • Side: salad

Instructions

  • Place the Italian sausage link into the base of the slow cooker. Pour the crushed tomatoes, frozen peppers and onions, Italian seasoning and a pinch of salt and pepper over the top.
  • Set the slow cooker on high for 3 hours or low for 6 hours.
  • To serve, place the cooked sausage into the hoagie roll and top with the tomato/peppers and onion sauce. Add a slice of provolone cheese over the top and let it melt.
  • Prepare salad.
  • Serve Slow Cooker Italian Sausage Sandwiches with side salad.
  • Freezer Meal Instructions
  • To a gallon-size plastic freezer baggie, add the crushed tomatoes, Italian sausage links, frozen pepper and onion blend, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.
  • Do not add the hoagie rolls or sliced cheese to the baggie.
  • Remove as much air as possible and seal. Add label to baggie and freeze.
  • Put baggie in the freezer and freeze up to 6 months in fridge freezer or 12 months in a deep freezer. Thaw in the fridge overnight, or a warm bowl of water for about 20 minutes, before transferring to the slow cooker and cooking on high for 3 hours or low for 6 hours. Assemble on hoagie rolls with a slice of Provolone cheese on each sandwich.
  • Serve with salad.
