BREAKING! Imperfect Produce is now Imperfect Foods!

MORE BREAKING! During the Week of September 30th, new members get a $20 credit for their first box!

Can I step up on a soapbox for a second?

I lived in a third world country for 6 years.

I shopped in a farmer’s market that had AMAZING, picked that morning, straight to the market produce. What was in season is what you got – nothing was flown in, nothing was brought in, it was all local. And I loved it…even the not-so-perfect looking produce.

I’d get whatever I needed – pretty and ugly – and I’d take it home for a good wash and then use it throughout the week.

When we moved back to the US (10 years ago), it always irked me that there was this good produce that the store wouldn’t sell. It wasn’t BAD (rotten, bad), but they wouldn’t sell it. I saw the produce department staff picking over things and not putting them on shelves. I even asked the produce manager once if/how I could get it, marked down or not. I was told I couldn’t have it. And that irked me. Because it wasn’t BAD, it was just ugly.

Great way to save money on Organic Produce - Imperfect Produce Review!

Here we are 10 years later, and last night my first “ugly produce” box arrived.

And I paid a FRACTION of what I would have at the grocery store. 30-50% less, to be exact.

And, it’s the first time that I’ve been able to get ALL ORGANIC produce for a reasonable price.

I’m always looking to save on all foods – including as much organic as I can fit in the budget – much of which I get from Costco.

Now, I’ll be getting more organic options from Imperfect Produce too! *high five*

Last night on FB live, I did an “unboxing” and showed off my ugly fruits and veggies. Check it out…

How Imperfect Produce Works

  • Choose your box!
  • Set up your account and payment information. (I chose delivery every 2 weeks.)
  • You can easily update and manage your subscription on your account page.

  • Make a note of your delivery date!
  • And your Customization Window too!

Delivery for my area is a Monday, and my customization window was the Thursday/Friday/Saturday before. (They email you to remind you to customize!)

When you customize, they “pre-load” your box and you and then add or subtract what you need/want. You can have as little or as much as you need.

WHAT I LOVE THE MOST…

They tell you what the Imperfections are…sometimes it’s Shape, or it’s Surplus, or they’re slightly small or too large, or just ugly.

But ugly fruit deserves to be enjoyed too 😉

NEW Non-Produce Options with Imperfect Produce

When I was in my account recently customizing my bimonthly box, I noticed that Imperfect Produce now offers products like

  • Natural, organic snacks
  • Natural, organic cooking ingredients (shelf-stable)
  • LaCroix sparkling water (ahem!)

Many other food items, that at first glance, looked to be cheaper than what I’m paying at my grocery store. I have a couple of snapshots below, so you can compare prices in your area.

Yes, another reason to give them a try!

AND…when my most recent box arrived, it was brought in an official Imperfect Produce truck!

Love all the updates and exciting things happening with this company. 🙂

Imperfect Produce Coupon

The cost for Imperfect Produce items and ingredients seems to vary slightly by market and my best advice is to:

  1. Create an account (and get a $20 credit on your first box – week of September 30th!)
  2. Log in and customize your first box.
  3. Make note of the different prices, specifically organic.
  4. Keep a short list of your favorite produce, and compare prices to your local grocery stores.
  5. Go ahead and just place your Imperfect Produce order, as it will likely be cheaper!
