Best Homemade Marinara Sauce Recipe – Simple, Authentic & Full of Flavor

This homemade marinara sauce is rich, robust, and made with just a few classic ingredients for an authentic Italian taste.

Simmered with tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, and herbs, it’s the perfect base for pasta, pizza, or dipping.

Whether you’re cooking a quick weeknight dinner or prepping for a family feast, this easy marinara delivers fresh, homemade flavor every time.

Homemade Marinara Sauce

Make marinara with cans of crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce easily with this yummy recipe.
Prep Time5 minutes minutes
Cook Time10 minutes minutes
Servings - 4 cups

Ingredients 

  • 15 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 15 oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp white sugar to cut the acidity from the tomatoes
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan or skillet, whisk together the tomato sauce and crushed tomatoes. Turn heat on high while you add the other ingredients.
  • Add the olive oil, minced garlic, onion powder, basil, oregano, thyme, and sugar.
  • Once the sauce bubbles, reduce heat to low and let simmer for 10 minutes. Add salt or pepper to taste.
  • Use homemade marinara sauce in your dinner and meal prep. Enjoy!
