Denise’s Tangy BBQ Chicken Wings

by Denise on January 13, 2011

With five kids under six it can be pretty difficult to find quick, healthy meals that everyone will actually eat, but these Tangy BBQ Chicken Wings are a family favorite that we can all agree on.  Although not much beats the joy of watching everyone eat the same meal without complaint, I also love that this versatile dish can be used as either an entree or an appetizer, and because they’re broiled and not fried these tasty wings are much healthier than restaurant and pre-packaged varieties.

  • 3 1/2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup white vinegar
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 3/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp honey

  1. Broil wings about 10 minutes on each side or until browned.
  2. Combine all remaining ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil. Add wings, cover and simmer for about 10 minutes until tender.

What’s your favorite marinade/sauce for chicken wings?! Is there one that your family all agrees on?!

I am allergic to pineapple juice. Wonder if can exchange to apple juice or any other recommendation. Love ur idea abt broiling chicken instead of fried. Thank u

You bet Ethel! I’ve tried it with orange juice and it was fabulous, but I’m betting that apple would work just fine also :)

I made this with chicken thighs last night and it was so yummy! The kids ate it up and asked me to make sure to make it again!
