peaches cream oatmeal Peaches and Cream Oatmeal

As part of No Cold Cereal Week and Pantry/Freezer Challenge Month, I made this fabulous oatmeal (along with another I’ll share next week!)…

…as well as Banana Cinnamon Waffles (which I made the night before…because we all know (or maybe you don’t) that I am SO NOT a morning person…and I’m not sure what I was thinking when I made up this challenge.

For me, the easiest thing to do for breakfast when my brain is still asleep…pour a bowl of cold cereal. Not this week!

Back to the oatmeal.

It’s pretty mindless, really?  And pretty quick, too. Something even I can do before my brain wakes up.

Ingredients
2 cups of quick cooking oatmeal
4 cups of water
3 Tbsp sweetener – I used white sugar…seemed like the best fit for peaches
2 peaches, sliced – From the freezer this time. But fresh work too!
Cream or milk for each bowl

Directions
I shall show you…

Sounds really yummy! My 2 year old would love this. By the way, the pictures are awesome! You did an amazing job taking them. Especially the first one of the cream being poured into the oatmeal. Looks very professional.

Love the photographic direction :) I could eat a bowl-full right now!

Yum! I make this, too, but I use vanilla soy milk instead of water (eliminates or at least reduces the need for sweetener) and throw frozen peaches in with the milk while it’s starting to boil. My other trick is to use coffee creamer (like coffeemate) instead of milk or cream at the end. SO delicious!!! I can’t wait for summer and fresh peaches!

This sounds and looks so yummy! I am going to make this on saturday since the weather is nice and cold hot bowl of peaches and cream oatmeal will do the trick.

Thanks,
Diane

i really love the pictures, but i’m kinda a dummy. can you just let me know how long you put the peaches in with the water. and i’m assuming you just boil the oatmeal according to directions?

@kelly overend,

No worries! I just added them after the oatmeal had cooked, and then stirred them in and removed from heat. The heat of the oatmeal will warm them up…I didn’t want them to be “overcooked”!

I eat oatmeal at least 5 times a week. It does good, good things for my digestive health. For a special treat I buy steel cut oats and put them in the crock pot overnight for Sunday morning breakfast.

I’m making this tomorrow morning — but I’m adding brown sugar and walnuts! Can’t wait! Yum!
