Caramelized Onion Dip is an easy appetizer for game days and holidays!

    caramelized onion dip

This Caramelized Onion dip is the perfect easy recipe for holiday snack making! It’s easy to whip up and only gets better the longer it sits in the fridge so you can enjoy it for days! Prepare this dip the night before a holiday party to have it ready to go and fully flavored. Serve with homemade potato chips or your favorite brand of kettle cooked chips. This also makes an excellent topping for loaded baked potatoes or homemade baked potato wedges.

This recipe is super easy and whips up in minutes. Your friends will think you spent all day creating it when really it takes a very short time! The longer you are able to let it sit the more flavor that will soak in.

    Servings - 4 servings

    Ingredients

    • 1 medium yellow onion chipped
    • 1 cup sour cream
    • 1 Tbsp butter
    • 1 tsp salt

    Instructions

    • Place the chopped onion with the butter into a frying pan. Cook on a medium/low heat for 20-30 minutes, to slowly caramelize the onions. The onions are ready when they are transparent and brown.
    • In a small bowl, mix the cooked onions with the sour cream and salt. Stir until everything is combined.
    • Place in the fridge for at least an hour or two before serving. This dip would be best if made the night before and let sit in the fridge overnight.
