Mississippi Sloppy Joes

Tangy banana peppers cut right through the rich, savory meat sauce, and a blanket of melted provolone ties it all together with a creamy, mild finish.

Ingredients 

  • 1 lb. ground beef browned
  • 15 oz. can sloppy joe sauce
  • 1/4 cup banana peppers chopped
  • 8 slices frozen garlic toast
  • sliced Provolone cheese
  • side salad

Instructions

  • Finely chop the white onion. Chop the celery stalks. Peel and chop the carrots.
  • In a large skillet, melt the butter and saute the onion, celery, and carrots for 3 to 5 minutes. Mix in the ground chicken with the veggies and brown until the chicken is no longer pink.
  • Stir in the sloppy joe sauce, Cajun seasoning and paprika. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Assemble the sandwiches by adding sloppy joe meat onto buns and add a pinch full of shredded cheddar on top of the sloppy joe meat. Let melt and add the top bun.
  • Prepare side salad.
