The classic way to cook brown rice on the stovetop.

- 5 cups water or chicken broth
- pinch salt
- 2 cups brown rice
In a large Dutch oven or heavy stockpot, bring the water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt.
Once the water is bubbling, stir in the brown rice, reduce heat to medium and let cook for 45 to 50 minutes.
Remove the pot from the stovetop, then fluff the brown rice and serve.
If desired, stir in butter or other seasonings to taste.
