Holiday Traditions are alive and well with the Chases this year…and we continue to mix it up and create new traditions and “adjust” some of our old traditions and creating a new one.
The first adjustment was decorating way before Thanksgiving this year. I’m still not sure what came over Steve (it was probably the boys nagging him!), but he got the tree down way early. At first I wasn’t that into it, but as soon as we got a cold snap of weather just before Thanksgiving, the holiday cheer was everywhere!
We continued our tradition of gingerbread houses and baking cookies for friends, neighbors and those who help and bless our boys at their schools. We also had a power session of sugar cooking baking and decorating – I love watching the boys get creative with their cookies…and see who can make the biggest pile of frosting and sprinkles on top of their cookies 😉
And we started a new one…a “Hot Chocolate Bar!”
I know this will become an annual tradition based on the amount of silly fun that we had each making our own hot chocolate just right!
The real reason for this cocoa festival was to get some great new photos of the boys…what better way to make a kid smile that put a mug of hot chocolate in front of them and say “add what you want!”
And it totally worked…don’t ya think?!
Tyler keeping a close eye on the warming milk!
Tyler sneaking a marshmallow!
The pre-teen…actually smiling.
Just kidding – this boy is happy and fun-loving…with a few pre-teen moments mixed in! lol
Austin sneaking a snowflake marshmallow. That stealthy grin tho.
“More whipped cream please!”
This one made a hot chocolate mountain, complete with peppermints on top! YUM!
This just makes me laugh and laugh.
It’s my complete goofball, being his goofball self.
With all the other brothers like, “HELLO….when we finish with these photos, we get to drink.it.all.”
It perfectly captures life with a bunch of boys!
The “cocoa bar” bribe totally worked. 😛
We also ended up getting some great shots by the tree. It was kind of an accident…I went over to sit down with the dog and they came over one by one.
Love these boys with all my heart.
Cody, the dog. And my barefooted Tyler.
My sweet baby.
Who I should really stop calling a baby.
Because he’s almost 5. *sob sob*
And he’s a totally mama’s boy!
This one. He totally favors his dad in looks and personality too!
And this one favors me. Just a little resemblance huh?!?
And with that…
We hope your holidays are filled with plenty of love, laughter and the unmeasurable joy that comes from Christ alone. Peace, Love and Joy to you and yours!!!
Merry Christmas, from the Chases!
