Do you know my friend Cherie from Queen of Free? If you don’t, let me introduce you to her. She’s the Queen of Free (literally, she has a crown and all!) and she and her husband paid of $127,000+ in debt in 4 years.
Here…why don’t you pull up a chair? Let’s grab a cup of coffee and gather together at the local coffee shop somewhere in middle America and talk about debt for a bit. Let’s talk specifically about Cherie and her husband Brian and their whopping debt. $127,000.
Here is an excerpt from the book…
Brian and I rarely discussed how much was in the bank, let alone any Enter the part of me that wishes I could sensationalize our story for you. I once was asked if I had bought something I loved in every color and maxed out our credit cards on designer shoes.
That’s simply not me. I wish I could tell you that we went on some killer vacation with beautiful ocean vistas and a pricey, high-flying skydiving experience. Didn’t happen. Did we buy a yacht? Nope. How about an RV? Nope. Did we take our kids to Disney World every week? month? year? Nope, nope, and nope. Did we have awesome computers and smartphones and amazing technology in our home? Uh-uh. Was our house a McMansion? Pbfft.
Aside from the mortgage on our home—a small and very modest 1950s brick ranch—our debt consisted of what most people would consider run-of-the-mill expenses.
While not so glamorous, these debts from undergrad & grad school student loans, credit card, car loan, medical/dental, totaled well over $127,000, a figure that typically makes people’s eyes bulge bigger than Homer Simpson’s when I share it with them.
Cherie and Brian share more of their story and how they dug out of this debt-hell and slayed the debt dragon, showing it no mercy! I promise it will knock your socks off!

Because I love Cherie and I love you and I want to support everyone around the coffee table here…I’m going to give a free copy of any of the meal plans or e-cookbooks (you pick 1!) to the first 20 people who forward me a copy of their order confirmation of Cherie’s Slaying the Debt Dragon Book!
Here’s how it works:
1. Order the book. Kindle or physical, doesn’t matter to me!
2. Forward me the order confirmation to: 5dollardinners (at) gmail (dot) com
3. In the forward, tell me which of the meal plans or e-cookbooks you’d like and I’ll reply and include a copy. You can pick any 1 plan or e-cookbook from the $5 Dinners store 🙂
While Steve and I don’t have any consumer debt outside of our mortgage, I was completely inspired by Cherie’s story and have made several changes to the way we budget and spend money since reading it. We are more aggressively saving towards a new van for me, and continue to increase our retirement contributions and deposits into the boys’ education fund as we can.
All this to say…this book isn’t just for folks who find themselves swimming in a small or large amount of debt. It’s for those who need to be encouraged and inspired to manage their finances wisely….to both slay debt and achieve financial freedom, and to then take that financial freedom and reach your financial goals and pursue your dreams!
