i love soup! my fav. is split pea and mushroom soup but i usally just eat bread with it the grilled cheese crutons sounds like a good idea p.s. im eating soup rite now tee-hee

Hi, thought I’d add a short comment about soups. I’ve had a goal for some time to have a SSSSH meal once a month. (That’s my acronym for Soup & Sandwich Saturday Supper Here I will make two different soups in my crockpots, but ask my guests to bring their choice of sandwiches or at least, the fixings. I hope it will be a fun & easy potluck for us all. I’m presently in the process of moving to a new home nearer my family, but as soon as I’m settled, the invites go out. I’m glad to see so many soup recipes on your website. Thanks.

when I make tomato soup, I make a grilled cheese and cut it into 1/2-inch pieces (little cubes) and use them as *croutons* on top.

Those are great ideas! I like making soup but often that’s all we’ll have for the whole meal; it’s good to have these ideas for things to serve along with the soup.

Personally I love crusty bread or grilled cheese with soup! I think I can eat just about any kind of soup if I have bread! I am such a carb junkie!

I call leftovers “planovers” …actually I even toss in an extra chop or chicken or whatever in order to have enough left to make up small meals for lunches that go to the office and are microwaved. The freezer is stacked with marked containers .. they are also great on days I don’t feel like cooking…

We love any home made soup with a chunk of any home made bread, toasted… it’s usually plenty as most of my soups are …. erm….. hearty….. more like a stew….so then, it becomes spoon or fork? No wonder somebody invented the spork…

maybe I’ll try adding a little salad or something one day…..

I have been lurking for a while, but I wanted to de-lurk and say that I love this post! Thanks for sharing these ideas.

I always struggle with what to serve with soup, which is a reason that I don't serve them as a meal very often even though I love them. I shall have to use these ideas.
