Not growing up in “the north” has had it’s fair share of challenges, now that I live in “the north.” Or at least in a place that has a winter season. I grew up in south Texas, where we’d dawn down coats anytime the temperature dropped below 50. And the city would literally shut down in the event of snow or ice. (Which is completely understandable considering there are no salt trucks and plows.)

The most difficult part for me, as a mother, moving to a colder climate, has been not knowing when the kids are too warm or cold in the winter months. At least when they were too young to tell me. I have the hardest time knowing which jacket is best for which temperatures…even after living in Ohio for almost 5 years. It doesn’t come naturally to me, because I didn’t grow up with the seasonal weather changes and learning what kind of jacket is best for what kind of weather day. I’m learning…albeit slowly.

That’s why I turned to Lands’ End…and their amazing jackets. Three years ago, I began my love affair with Lands’ End and their outerwear. Fleeces, pullovers, and winter coats…we have them one of each. For each of the kids. And the pieces we’ve had for more than 2 years have worn well enough to pass down to the next brother!
