Kroger Shopping Trip – The “I Have a Plan” Edition

Shopping with the $5 Dinner Mom

After last week’s disastrous trip to the grocery store, I was determined not to let that happen again…or at least again anytime soon.  I’ve surveyed the pantry and freezers and we have plenty of food in the stockpile to get us through the next few weeks. I wrote up a plan…for our meals, for batch cooking, and for the greens in the garden that will be harvested this week.  I can use the greens along with pasta in the stockpile to make some quick and easy dinners this week…and next!

I only had 13 items on my list this week.  The rest will come from the stockpile…time to get creative with what we’ve got on hand!

Kroger

Produce

  • Bananas, mushrooms, zukes, cantaloupe
  • We have sweet potatoes, avocados, oranges in the fridge…lots of lettuce in the garden…and plenty of fresh frozen fruit in the freezer for smoothies!

Meats

  • $1.99/lb chicken breast – We have a few packages in the freezer…I bought 1 more because I couldn’t pass up the price!

Total spent at Kroger: $37.24

Total for the month: $46.79 + $124.57 +$37.24 = $208.60

I agree, the chicken price is great. I would have bought a bunch, just to stock up.
