It’s Week #2 in the Pantry Challenge! Here’s the list for this week…
I LOVE it when coupons in the paper match up the SAME week as the sale! See evidence above…$.30 frozen veggies! Yeah!
Also, since we are switching over to cash, I’d thought about buying a cash envelope system…but why buy when you can print and cut your own for free!
Kelleigh is offering the. most. adorable. envelope. system. templates. FREE!!!
I headed straight for my scrapbooking papers…ended up choosing the brightly colored cardstock palette for my envelopes!
Not nearly as adorable as Kelleigh’s, but these envelopes of mine won’t get lost in a snowstorm! I’ve got 4 for groceries, 1 for gas, 1 for miscellaneous/kids clothes/stamps/etc. that fit perfectly into my wallet.
After I shop, I slip the receipt into the envelope. Then at the end of the month during our last Sunday Night Meeting of the month, we can quickly total up how much was spent, stash away any extra and then decide how much to pull for the next month. It’s a system that works, keeps me accountable with my shopping, and is easy to track!
Thanks Kelleigh for the super-FAB envelopes!!!
Kroger
Produce – Broccoli, Cantaloupe, Bananas
Meats – chicken breast, on sale $1.89/lb; ground chuck, on sale $1.69/lb.
Coupons Used – Just 1! For the frozen veggies…making them just $.30
Total spent at Kroger: $20.76
Total for the month: $40.14
P.S. $1 QUAKER OATMEAL COUPON…use it with this week’s 2/$3 sale at Walgreens for just $.50 container of oatmeal!!
I might just have to stop in later in the week!

Love those envelopes, I just might make my own tonight!! Love this idea, a lot better than just the plain old boring regular envelopes!
Yay! Thanks for the link up! You are so sweet to mention me!
Your envelopes look great. We just use a bunch of envelopes from the bank which look nothing like yours.
Do you have someone that does safeway stores?
@Tina,
I don’t think so.
Great shopping trip.
I just got your book in the mail today can’t wait to read it cover to cover.
I just had to drop a note and tell you about the AWESOME deal I got on chicken today. Marsh (local grocery chain in Indiana) is having a one day only (today, Friday, January 15) meat sale and boneless, skinless chicken breast packages are $1.57 a pound (limit 3 packages)!!!
@Angela,
That’s a FABULOUS price for chicken breast! Hope you stocked up!!!
I am trying to get the hubby to do the cash envelope system too, but he is very hesitant : (
We have always budgeted, but this month we have gotten a little more ‘strict’ and I can’t wait to see how it goes!!
I’m going to keep working on him trying to convince him to do the cash envelope system! So hopefully soon!
How does online shopping fit into your cash envelope system?
Thanks! Hadn’t noticed the 10/$10 on Steamfresh — if you picked up the Safeway Frozen Food booklet last month, there’s a $1/2 Q in it. That’s good for those of us whose stores don’t double.
