Budget Update
I wanted to do a quick budget update! Steve and I have decided to up our existing $60/week grocery budget to $75/week for the next several weeks.
Reason: The man (yes, I am referring to my husband as “the man”) is training for a marathon and he won’t stop eating!!!
In an effort to keep him properly fueled throughout the remainder of his training and his actual running of the marathon, I need to buy more protein and carbs to keep him going! Yeah for the Larabar coupons…every little bit helps!
I’m also hoping to squeeze in a little more produce “stockpiling” as well…taking advantage of all these great summer produce deals.
This week’s trip mostly involved getting some ingredients like olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, some pasta, a package of meat, and some other “basics.” I thought I’d take advantage of an “off sale” week, and get some ingredients to add to the pantry!
Total spent at Kroger: $82.31
(Oops! Not starting out well! Eeks!)
Thanks to Andrea at Mommy Snacks and Marcy at Stretching a Buck for posting the best deals and coupon matchups at my stores each week!

If you google ‘homemade Lara bars’ you will find some great recipes that will cost much less than the store bought version.
@Jennifer,
Thanks for the tip! Will try that!
