It’s that time again…time for me to share my love for dried beans. (I love them for the way that they cook, and for how they help our budget…one “rice and beans” meal a week can really put a dent into your grocery budget!)

Last week, I shared my recipe for Lentil Stew with Pita Chips…and next week I’ll be sharing a scrumptious Corn and Bean Chowder recipe. I love Hurst Beans, and I love cooking with their beans. And I’m thrilled to be able to do another giveaway for one of their fabulous clay pots.

They have graciously offered to give away one of their handmade clay cooking pots, made specifically for cooking their beans! Before we get to the giveaway, I thought I’d share a few of the helpful links for cooking with dried beans that we have here on $5 Dinners.

The 15 bean soup – definitely a family favorite! I’m an email subscriber, followed you on Pinterest, repinned one of you Red Beans and Rice recipes and liked Hurst Beans on Facebook!

I think the Bean Pot is beautiful! My Mother had a Bean Pot when I was younger, it was Brown, and had, I believe 6 cups that matched the Bean Pot. I loved that Pot! I use to get so excited when my Mother would bring it out on the counter. She made a lot of different recipes in that Bean Pot. When she passed away, and we were cleaning the house, we could not find the Bean Pot. I was so disappointed! I was almost 50 years old, and I sat down and cried. (I rarely cry) I scared my family when they saw me crying. When I told them why I was crying they all started laughing, and talking about the great meals we had in that Bean Pot. I have tried to find one, to no avail. I would make 15 bean soup in that Beautiful Bean Pot!

We love the 15 Bean Soup just the way it is and especially served over cornbread. But I HAVE to try the Reuben Bean Soup with buttered marble rye toast on the side.
