CLOSED! Hoover Floormate – Review and Giveaway

UPDATE! This giveaway is now closed!

And the winner is…Jodi…who said, “I have the worst time with floors, the issue…a 109 lb. German Shepherd whom we love dearly but a times wishes was hairless!!! I am sure your Hoover giveaway would help with our “hairy” situation…”

Congrats Jodi!!!

So terribly sorry that one of the first things you see here today is this nasty water. I truly am. (But it’s the proof…and I needed you to see it!)

When the folks at Hoover wrote and asked if I’d like to try out the new Hoover FloorMate, I took one look at my kitchen floor and replied with YES!

We pretty much have an “open back door” policy around here…the boys run in and out, in and out.  I *try* to be the back door police, but I often miss them as they fly by with sandy feet and dirt covered toes. This makes for nasty, nasty, nasty floors by the time noon rolls around…and throw a crawling baby into the mix. Ack!

Before I share with you about the Hoover FloorMate, I need to confess something. I need to get something off my chest.

For the past 3 years, I have been cleaning my kitchen floors in a NOT-SO-FRUGAL way. It involves me. My hands and knees. And baby wipes.

(I know. I’m hanging my head in shame.)  It’s a SERIOUS waste of baby wipes. And $$$$$!

But I can hold my head up a little higher now…as I have a new friend that keeps me off my hands and knees, and keeps me from wasting wipe after wipe, after wipe….after wipe.

I have used the handy dandy Hoover FloorMate several times now.  The first time I used it, I let the floor get good and dirty.  I wiped the crumbs off the counter straight onto the floor. I didn’t wipe up the little bit of juice that fell onto the floor as Charlie was putting his dishes into the sink.  I wanted the nastiest, stickiest, crumb-iest floor when it came time to put this thing to the test.

The Hoover FloorMate has 3 settings…dry vacuum (for the crumbs), wet cleaning, and dry cleaning. It runs on scratch-free rubber wheels, has a 13″ wide cleaning path, and a super cool trigger that allows you to distribute the soap here and there as you wash the floors. It has uses 2 different water tanks…one for clean water and the soap, and the other for the dirty water (again, sorry about the photo.)  During the wet cleaning process, it utilizes these crazy cool spin brushes to get the sticky up off the floor. (I admit, I was a bit skeptical that it would do as good of a job as my baby wipes…but it did a better job!!!)

I found it easy to understand, set up, fill up with water and clean. And most importantly, it left the floors sparkly clean!

I am most impressed with the FloorMate! Now if your kitchen floor (or any other hard surface) is anything like mine, then you could certainly benefit from the Hoover FloorMate!

Oh my…we sweep our kitchen floor A LOT. With a dog, it seems that his food and hair accumulates under our table. It doesn’t get washed nearly enough though, because like you, I’m on my hands and knees scrubbing (with water though). I would love to win this!!

  2. Cortney says

I clean my floors everyday b/c the toddler and baby are always throwing food and the dog sheds more than I’d like.

  3. says

With our home being for sale I sweep and mop (with a Swiffer) at least every other day. I like to keep up on the floors since they are hardwood and so difficult to keep clean. Thanks for the chance!

  4. says

I sweep our kitchen floor at least once a day. Haven’t had to mop it yet because we’re in the middle of renovations but would love to use this on our new floor!

  5. Erika says

I need to sweep more!! We could easily sweep a few times a day with 3 kids and a dog running in and out!

  6. Heather C. says

With a husband, dog and 4-year old using the back door (where my kitchen is) numerous times a day, my kitchen needs sweeping DAILY. I usually swiffer it nightly too… :( Thanks for the chance.

  7. Andrea Cseh says

I don’t sweep/mop as much as I should! It always seems to be that last thing I can’t get to! Maybe a floormate would help me!!

  8. Leanna Glasgow says

I am a working mom, I am ashamed to say, I ussually mop every saturday–unless there is a spill!!!

  9. Lacy B says

I sweep my kitchen floors about 3 times a week, but we just got a high shedding dog, so it will probably be everyday soon!

  10. Jenny says

I sweep or run the Roomba (awesome, btw) at least once a day. The floors get mopped once a week.

  11. Ann says

I am tired of spending so much time on my hands and knees scrubbing and rinsing my floors! What I wouldn’t do to try this thing!

  12. Missy says

I sweep every day, too many teens coming in and out, not to mention two cats! Mope once a week (my son has to do it, after having back surgery, I can’t mop anymore)

  13. Kathy H says

I ashamedly admit that I often don’t clean my floors very well. I sweep and mop every two weeks or so. They look so dingy after 10 years of use. I’d like to change that!

  14. Saundra Richline says

I sweep/clean the floor about every other day sometime more depending on how dirty my daughter gets the floor.

  15. Jessica Marlene Slonaker says

I sweep my floors at least 3 times a day.. once after every meal. Kind of like brushing teeth. Ha.
