CLOSED! Hoover Floormate – Review and Giveaway

UPDATE! This giveaway is now closed!

And the winner is…Jodi…who said, “I have the worst time with floors, the issue…a 109 lb. German Shepherd whom we love dearly but a times wishes was hairless!!! I am sure your Hoover giveaway would help with our “hairy” situation…”

Congrats Jodi!!!

So terribly sorry that one of the first things you see here today is this nasty water. I truly am. (But it’s the proof…and I needed you to see it!)

When the folks at Hoover wrote and asked if I’d like to try out the new Hoover FloorMate, I took one look at my kitchen floor and replied with YES!

We pretty much have an “open back door” policy around here…the boys run in and out, in and out.  I *try* to be the back door police, but I often miss them as they fly by with sandy feet and dirt covered toes. This makes for nasty, nasty, nasty floors by the time noon rolls around…and throw a crawling baby into the mix. Ack!

Before I share with you about the Hoover FloorMate, I need to confess something. I need to get something off my chest.

For the past 3 years, I have been cleaning my kitchen floors in a NOT-SO-FRUGAL way. It involves me. My hands and knees. And baby wipes.

(I know. I’m hanging my head in shame.)  It’s a SERIOUS waste of baby wipes. And $$$$$!

But I can hold my head up a little higher now…as I have a new friend that keeps me off my hands and knees, and keeps me from wasting wipe after wipe, after wipe….after wipe.

I have used the handy dandy Hoover FloorMate several times now.  The first time I used it, I let the floor get good and dirty.  I wiped the crumbs off the counter straight onto the floor. I didn’t wipe up the little bit of juice that fell onto the floor as Charlie was putting his dishes into the sink.  I wanted the nastiest, stickiest, crumb-iest floor when it came time to put this thing to the test.

The Hoover FloorMate has 3 settings…dry vacuum (for the crumbs), wet cleaning, and dry cleaning. It runs on scratch-free rubber wheels, has a 13″ wide cleaning path, and a super cool trigger that allows you to distribute the soap here and there as you wash the floors. It has uses 2 different water tanks…one for clean water and the soap, and the other for the dirty water (again, sorry about the photo.)  During the wet cleaning process, it utilizes these crazy cool spin brushes to get the sticky up off the floor. (I admit, I was a bit skeptical that it would do as good of a job as my baby wipes…but it did a better job!!!)

I found it easy to understand, set up, fill up with water and clean. And most importantly, it left the floors sparkly clean!

I am most impressed with the FloorMate! Now if your kitchen floor (or any other hard surface) is anything like mine, then you could certainly benefit from the Hoover FloorMate!

  1. Jen says

I sweep every few days and mop every few weeks! With the Hoover FloorMate I’d wash much more often!

  2. says

I sweep and mop…as little as possible? The reality is I maybe sweep once or twice a week and the mopping gets done when I can talk my husband into doing it. I would love to try one of these to see if it gets the job done on our floor!

  3. Cathy says

Do I have to be honest? It’s about once a month – sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on how crazy things are. I would LOVE to win this. Thank you for the giveaway!

  4. Jane says

I sweep my floor at least once a day, we live on a farm so you never know what you will find stuck too it

  5. Amanda says

I sweep every other day and mop once a week. However, I have a 5-month old that will be crawling before long so I’ll really need to step up my game!

  6. Trish says

Hmm….I probably sweep my floor at least twice a week. Now, mopping? That’s a different story! I barely get around to it, maybe once or twice a month? Though I’m trying to be better! (And the floor needs it!)

  7. Carol E. says

I don’t sweep or mop enough. I would love this. I bet I could even get my children to use it.

  8. Jessica says

I don’t do it as much as I should wall to wall wood and tile downstairs makes for a lot of mopping. I sure would love a machine like this to help me.

  9. Andrea says

With three children and a dog, I am cleaning my floors upwards of four times a day; I sweep after each meal and snack, and if my husband isn’t home, I can ususally get two quick mops in a day. Once after breakfast and once again during naps..I’m a little obessive, I see that now that this is in print!

  10. says

Well, with four cats, two dogs, one son, two grandsons and one man – I have a lot of dirty floors to keep clean. I try to at least sweep daily and mop weekly – it takes so much time to first sweep and then “swiffer” mop.

  11. says

I sweep & mop constantly…having a 2 yr old who likes to spill her drink…she likes the way it sounds from transferring from one cup to another…lol

Follower on twitter, fan on Facebook, & fan of Hoover Facebook.

  12. Thessa says

I sweep at least once a day, and sometimes I mop once a day, too. Thanks for the chance to win!

  13. Sherrie says

We have 3 children, 2 dogs, and live on a small farm. We should sweep and mop each day but probably in reality get it done about once a week.

  14. Amy says

I swiffer/sweep daily & should mop/clean weekly, but my Shark broke… so this would be fantastic to replace it. Thanks Erin! =)

  15. sidney says

I sweep at least once a day. I babysit and some days there are 5 kids running in and out.

  16. Heather says

I “liked” you on Facebook, and regularly read you through Google Reader.

I mop maybe once a year. We sweep the floor twice a week, and wipe up spills as soon as they happen. We also don’t wear shoes in the house, which really helps keep the floors cleaner.

  17. Effie C. says

Unfortunately, I have to sweep every day and mop every other because of my children. :(

  18. Jess says

Oh my goodness! It varies with the days activities, usually during the week I only sweep the kitchen/dining room once a day, weekends can get up to twice a day. When it rains outside, I mop the floor everytime my pup comes back inside. I have to vaccuum every couple days, as I have a pup and a very arts and craftsy little one.

  19. Stephanie Abercombie says

As the mother of 5 and 7 year old boys- and the loving wife of a 40 year old boy *wink* – I sweep the floors no less than once every morning before leaving for the day, and AT THE LEAST twice a night. Those 3 barefoot bandits of mine track dirt on their feet as if we were hikers in the Catskills! And since the 4 of us agree there’s nothing nastier than grit under your bare feet, I’m a sweepin fool!

  20. says

I don’t want to talk about how often I sweep and/or vacuum and/or mop and/or crawl around the floor with a towel trying (unsuccessfully) to get something naaaaasty off my kitchen floor. (But it rhymes with “daily.”) (sometimes feels like “hourly”) (frequently seems like “what, are you KIDDING me?! Didn’t I JUST do this?!?!”)

  21. Nancy says

With 4 children and their friends in and out all day, I must sweep/clean my floor daily. Sometimes a few times a day.

Thanks for the chance to win this!

  22. Debi Klopfenstein says

I sweep my kitchen and dining room twice daily. I mop at least once a week.

  23. says

I would LOVE to win this!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only mop my floors once aweek because i HATE to do it so much. This would totally change my life, literally!

  24. Becy says

I don’t mop as often as I should. I have a toddler and a dog that are into everything. Together. I bought myself a fancy ‘steam mop’ only to figure out that it doesn’t work like I thought. I hate using it. Period. But I don’t want to tell my husband that ; ) So instead, while he’s at work, I am on my hands and knees scrubbing. I would LOVE to try something new.

  25. Marion says

I seen the Hoover in the store and wondered if it really did a good job. I moved into a new house 3 months ago and now have almost 2000sq feet of tile to try to keep clean and 4 kids and a cat that like make sure it not clean :) I would love to win this!!
