CLOSED! Hoover Floormate – Review and Giveaway

UPDATE! This giveaway is now closed!

And the winner is…Jodi…who said, “I have the worst time with floors, the issue…a 109 lb. German Shepherd whom we love dearly but a times wishes was hairless!!! I am sure your Hoover giveaway would help with our “hairy” situation…”

Congrats Jodi!!!

So terribly sorry that one of the first things you see here today is this nasty water. I truly am. (But it’s the proof…and I needed you to see it!)

When the folks at Hoover wrote and asked if I’d like to try out the new Hoover FloorMate, I took one look at my kitchen floor and replied with YES!

We pretty much have an “open back door” policy around here…the boys run in and out, in and out.  I *try* to be the back door police, but I often miss them as they fly by with sandy feet and dirt covered toes. This makes for nasty, nasty, nasty floors by the time noon rolls around…and throw a crawling baby into the mix. Ack!

Before I share with you about the Hoover FloorMate, I need to confess something. I need to get something off my chest.

For the past 3 years, I have been cleaning my kitchen floors in a NOT-SO-FRUGAL way. It involves me. My hands and knees. And baby wipes.

(I know. I’m hanging my head in shame.)  It’s a SERIOUS waste of baby wipes. And $$$$$!

But I can hold my head up a little higher now…as I have a new friend that keeps me off my hands and knees, and keeps me from wasting wipe after wipe, after wipe….after wipe.

I have used the handy dandy Hoover FloorMate several times now.  The first time I used it, I let the floor get good and dirty.  I wiped the crumbs off the counter straight onto the floor. I didn’t wipe up the little bit of juice that fell onto the floor as Charlie was putting his dishes into the sink.  I wanted the nastiest, stickiest, crumb-iest floor when it came time to put this thing to the test.

The Hoover FloorMate has 3 settings…dry vacuum (for the crumbs), wet cleaning, and dry cleaning. It runs on scratch-free rubber wheels, has a 13″ wide cleaning path, and a super cool trigger that allows you to distribute the soap here and there as you wash the floors. It has uses 2 different water tanks…one for clean water and the soap, and the other for the dirty water (again, sorry about the photo.)  During the wet cleaning process, it utilizes these crazy cool spin brushes to get the sticky up off the floor. (I admit, I was a bit skeptical that it would do as good of a job as my baby wipes…but it did a better job!!!)

I found it easy to understand, set up, fill up with water and clean. And most importantly, it left the floors sparkly clean!

I am most impressed with the FloorMate! Now if your kitchen floor (or any other hard surface) is anything like mine, then you could certainly benefit from the Hoover FloorMate!

  1. Stacy says

I sweep probably once a week and mop less than that…but it should be done more! The couple I clean for requires 2-3 times a week sweeping and mopping, but with the dog hair accumulation, it could certainly be done more often!

  2. Valerie says

Do we have to be honest about this? OK, probably sweep once a week and mop every 2 weeks.

  3. says

I really need this. I don’t know how many times I’m cleaning the floor, because honestly I loose track by day 3….but I do know it’s not as often as I want the floor clean because I constantly feel like my floor feels gross.

  4. Rocio H. says

Oohhhh would love this for my really hard to clean floors, yep on my hands and knees too.

  5. Nicola says

Do I have to be honest? Do you promise not to tell anyone? Ok I aim for once a week. :)

  6. Emily says

I feel bad admitting this but I’m not sure the last time I swept or mopped the kitchen!

  7. says

Hmmm…is the question how many times I sweep & mop my floors or how many times I SHOULD sweep & mop? :) Now that our baby is crawling, we’re sweeping 4 or 5 times a week and mopping 2 or 3 but I hate my mop & would LOVE a Hoover Floormate!!

  8. Jen says

I sweep probably 2-3 times a day, because I am home all day with little kids and they make a lot of crumbs. I don’t mop more than once a month though. I usually just get a wet towel and clean the areas that look gross as needed.

  9. Meredith says

I teach, so during the summers I sweep the floors at least three times a day everyday. I have a very independent 2 year old who does not wany any help with any part of eating, therefore a lot goes in the floor.

  10. Nancy Chapin says

I try to sweep the floors every night after my 3 year old goes to bed, and wash the floors about once every other week, spot cleaning if needed in between :)

  11. charli svedin says

I sweep the floor once to twice a day and mop once a week it really should be more. haha

  12. Lee Ann C says

  14. jessica wagg says

  15. Morgan says

I sweep every day or every other day. I usually “swiffer” with a wet cloth once a week.

  16. bethany says

I could sweep and mop 2034234938 times a day and it would still not be enough! But in all honesty, I sweep a few times a day (I have a crawler) and I mop twice a week.

  17. Jena says

I sweep my floors about once a week…i should be sweeping/mopping them every day!!! with 3 boys (5, 3, and 2) and a new baby girl (3 mo) definately need something to make it easier!!
