It’s supposed to be 45 today…and into the mid-50s by the end of the week.

Means I can get out into the garden, right?!

I WISH! (We have an early-middle of May frost date here.)

I don’t think I can wait that long!

But, I can get started with planting seeds indoors soon! (For those of you who don’t know, I use the Square Foot Gardening method!)

If you haven’t done much in terms of gardening before, herbs is a great place to start!  They grow easily and I can’t imagine not cooking with them throughout the summer months!

I grow a wide variety of produce in pots on my patio right outside my kitchen door…this year I’ll grow several varieties of tomatoes and peppers, lettuce, radishes, spinach, cucumbers, zucchini, basil, cilantro, oregano and flowers…can’t wait to get out there and start playing in the dirt!!

We’re growing tomatoes, hot and sweet peppers, a couple kids of summer squash, peas, green beans and we’re going to try black beans. Our oldest daughter chose pumpkins, our youngest daughter chose cantaloup and our 2 year old son chose carrots. I think we’re going to do cucumbers too. Sounds like we have a big garden..we don’t :(

This is the first year my husband and I are having our very own garden (we both grew up in gardening families)! We are dreaming of fresh peppers, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, zucchini, & more. Two new things I’d like to try are: growing super-hot chilies that are used in Indian and Bengali dishes…and herbs!!

WE GROW A VEGETABLE GARDEN EVERY YEAR, PEPPERS, POTATOES (RED AND WHITE), TOMATOES, CUCS, GREEN AND YELLOW BEANS, SNAP PEAS, REG PEAS,BEETS, RADISHES, ACORN SQUASH, BUTTERNUT SQUASH,ZUCCHINI, PUMPKINS, SUNFLOWERS, CORN, CABBAGE, ONIONS(RED AND WHITE) AND MY HUSBAND DOES DILL FOR PICKLES AND DILLY BEANS.
