It is my intention every week to post my grocery trips with highlights and such. But I’ve missed the last 2 weeks, so I thought I’d do a quick recap and we’ll get back to the regular posting next week!
2 weeks ago I went to Kroger. Mainly because they had STELLAR meat sales going on. But why would I shop there if I could get things free from Walmart? Well, I just like Kroger’s meat better. Better deals and better meats. Plain and simple.
I grabbed a few other things while I was in there (sorry no photo of this trip!). I spent $53.88 and saved around $73.–. Not too shabby for stocking up on my favorite meat cuts!
Last week was a “stockpile/pantry challenge week.” I didn’t need much for the meals I made, but I did need to stock up on rice milk and GF pancake mix for the boys from Trader Joes, as well as GF snack bars from Kroger. I had $41 exactly in my wallet and my Walmart GC. Here’s the breakdown…
Trader Joes $27.oo even
Kroger $13.90 (How about squaking in $.10 under the wire!!!)
Walmart $27.36
Deal of the day: GF granola was on closeout for $2.24 plus it has a peelie coupon for $1 on the package. Got a $4.49 package of granola for $1.24
Total for last week: $68.26

I like that rice milk- did you get coupons for it?
No coupons on the rice milk. Get it at TJs because its the cheapest place around. Over $1 less/box that other stores around here!
Just wanted to give you a heads up that yesterday at Kroger (Ralph’s) I found a display with an Organic Grocery Coupon booklet at the entrance to the store. Inside, one of the coupons is for $1 off any Envirokidz product…I know I’ll be stocking up on Gorilla Munch at Trader Joe’s!
Thanks Sarah! I’ll keep my eye out for it
I like Kroger meats better also. I rarely ever buy meat anywhere else except for Kroger. Not sure what it is – the price? The quality? Just something about buying meat at Kroger.
I try to buy Rice Milk at Trader Joes too. It is so much cheaper than anywhere else. Even buying it by the case. I just wish TJs wasn’t over 30 miles from my house so I sometime’s wind up buying it at the food co-op and it’s $3.79 there. I think TJs is $2.69. I only go once a month and I never buy enough.
I nominated you for a lemonade award!

I just love your site. I always plan a $5 meal ($1 per person). I think my husband didn’t believe me. When I found your site, he saw that I was not the only person able to do this. Thanks and keep the recipes coming.
I agree with you on the meat from Kroger. I don’t care for Walmart’s meat at all. Our family recently bought a 1/2 a cow from our neighbor when he had a cow slaughtered. I can’t tell you just how much better that meat is. The difference is incredible. We are going to buy a calf from him and raise it along w/my brother in law. You can’t beat the price and the freshness is wonderful!
