Planning on grilling this July 4th weekend…well, Sara Lee is here to save the day!

Can’t figure out what to do with those leftover buns (because inevitably there are a few leftovers!)…

Sara Lee Chef Catherine DeOrio has incorporated Sara Lee Soft & Smooth Wheat Buns Made with Whole Grain into a variety of tips and ideas for any eating occasion:

Breakfast – French Toast Sticks
• Cut Sara Lee Soft & Smooth Wheat Hot Dog Buns Made with Whole Grain into quarters and then cut each piece in half along the perforated edge
• Dip in a vanilla egg custard and pan fry

Appetizer/Snack – Bruschetta
• Cut Sara Lee Soft & Smooth Wheat Hot Dog Buns Made with Whole Grain in half along the perforated edge
• Baste with olive oil and minced garlic and bake
• Top with diced tomatoes and basil

Lunch/Dinner – Mini Homemade Pizzas
• Use each half of Sara Lee Soft & Smooth Wheat Hamburger Buns Made with Whole Grain as the crust to your pizza
• Spread pizza sauce and sprinkle with oregano
• Top with mozzarella cheese and bake until cheese is melted

Dessert – Summer Pudding
• Make a berry compote using blackberries, raspberries and blueberries
• Layer Sara Lee Soft & Smooth Wheat Hamburger Buns Made with Whole Grain and the berry compote in a glass bowl
• Refrigerate until the juices from the berry compote have saturated the bread

    My only use for leftover bread is not very creative is to make bread crumbs. I bake the bread a few minutes first to make it really hard, then process pieces until they’re fine crumbs. So much cheaper than buying bread crumbs!

    My daughter likes to make sandwiches to pack in her lunch using hamburger or hotdog rolls. It’s a change from regular white bread.

    I use leftover buns to make garlic bread. Spread w/ butter, sprinkle w/ garlic and salt. Bake at 375 for 6-8 mins. yummy!

    My favorite way to use leftover hot dog buns for fun shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!

    We never have leftovers – they get turned into peanut butter and jelly subs before they can be left over. I want to win!!!!

    While it’s not creative, it’s yummy. My favorite use for leftover hot dog buns is to smear the inside with peanut butter and pop a whole banana in – then eat it hot dog style.

    I have stocked up on hot dogs this summer and could really use some buns for those babies!! Would love to win the buns….Sara Lee buns are always so fresh and soft…love them!! Crystal

    I would love to win – I love to use the leftovers for mini sliders! – Especially the hot dog buns cut in half work perfect and they go a bit further!     Besides using leftovers for sliders, you can squish them down or roll them out with a rolling pin and use them for sandwiches, or grilled cheese, or toast in a toaster over then spread with pizza sauce and top with cheese and melt again in toaster oven for a little pizza! Mmmmm….. ~Darcy

    If i have left overs i usually make toasted subs with the hot dog buns and my kids favorite is PB & J with the hamburger buns.
