That’s a lot of wasted space with baskets….. but what about those of us with a chest freezer? There’s times I’ve darn near had to crawl in there to find something at the bottom!

I just did this last week and the baskets don’t take up much space. I think if you got stackable bins it might help but my dollar tree didn’t have them. I got plastic bins about the same size as the baskets. With the chest freezers I’ve heard of using milk crates. They stack easily. :)

I’m going to have to look at this some more. As for chest freezers, I have a combination of milk crates and fabric bags. I have them stacked on upside down crates with milk jugs of water to help fill in the extra space. We don’t fill up the freezer as much as many do, but it gives us the needed freezer space, and the water is good because a full freezer is more efficient. And we’re ready when we go camping!

I did this but with collapsible plastic bins from the dollar store. They cost a good deal less than the ones in the picture. I have different colors for different things and as they empty out they can be broken down and stacked. This also helps with inventory control. If I empty out a bin, I know it is time to put that item on the grocery list.

I was thinking about using plastic containers for freezer storage. When I went to the store to look, the clerk pointed out that you have to make sure the plastic can be used in the freezer. The freezer can make the plastic more fragile.
