CLOSED! Commit to Fit Friday – Make the Commitment & $100 Giveaway

This giveaway is now closed…and here is the winner:

Linda says, “I follow you on FB and if I were to win the $100 my goal would be to start a membership to our local gym.”

Congratulations Linda and to all of you who are committing to fitness!  Way to go!

**Our winner has been notified via email with further instructions.  Stay tuned to $5 Dinners for our next exciting giveaway!**

Above is what hangs on the wall in our office. A constant reminder of our family’s commitment to fitness.

What you see is a framed *** that my mom had made for me after I ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 2000.  Ten years ago, last weekend, I ran my first (and probably only) marathon.  It was an amazing experience…complete with sassiness, sore legs, Tootsie rolls at mile 22, a nice view of Watergate where I stopped to say Hi to my dad and stretch my legs, a running finish, and a race for a cure.  Oh, and there was a space blanket, purple Team in Training comradery for all of us where purple tanktops, and a dad who stalked me rode the metro around DC to different stops along the course to cheer me on!

It was an amazing experience.  And one I’d like to repeat…but the chances of that happening with little people around is slim. Really, none. (Perhaps when they are older…training for a marathon with little people around takes more time and commitment than I have to offer right now.)

Half marathons will do. They are my thing.

I’m back to hitting the pavement and have run several miles this week.  Tomorrow I’ve got my final long run before the half marathon in a few weeks. This is what my Saturday will look like.

Bible Study. 10 mile run. Drink water. Eat. Stretch. Eat. Epsom salts bath. Drink water. Stretch. Sink into the couch. Eat. Drink water. Stretch. Another Epsom salts bath. Eat. Drink water…

(You get the idea. Most of the day will be centered around this long run…and now you see why training for longer than a half marathon would prove difficult!)

I have made the Commit to Fit Pledge. Have you?!?

If so, then this giveaway is for you. It’s for $100. 100 bucks. 100 smackers.  For you to invest in your fitness goals.

For me, it was the half marathon entry fee.

For you, it could be a series of 5K entry fees. Or a gym membership. Or Zumba classes.

This money is to help you reach your personal fitness goals.  (Please note, proof of purchase will be required before your reimbursement can be sent. Winner and I will work out all those details. Failure to show proof of purchase in a timely manner will result in a new winner being chosen.)

I visited the Subway Commit to Fit Facebook page and entered the contest there too! Thank you!!

  2. Stacey says

Just this week I started Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred, before that I did the four week plan of Brazil Butt Lift. I’m committing to continue with my at home exercise! (It’s the only realistic way for me to stick to it.) The $100 would be used to purchase some kettle bells and go towards my next workout video/program.

  3. Lauren says

I would like to get back to a fitness-oriented lifestyle (and losing 20 pounds wouldn’t hurt). I pledge to Commit to Fit. I would use the money to get a new pair of running shoes.

  4. Sarah says

My goal: get back into my size 6 jeans! Lately I’ve been in 8’s and pushing the 10 line so I really have to start making some changes.
I pledge to Commit to Fit!
I would use the money to help buy an eliptical machine.

  5. Shauna says

I commit to be fit! I’ve recently had my fourth baby and I have a lot of baby weight to lose, and then some. If I won, I’d use the money to purchase Zumba DVDs so I can continue to work out at home.

  6. Helen says

I want to get back into walking more, using my treadmill and doing my awesome pilates DVDs. I pledge to Commit to Fit! I could use the $100 for some new exercise shoes- mine are so old and nasty!

  7. says

I pledge to commit to fit! I’ve been running 2-4 miles 3x/week for the last couple of months and recently started doing some light weight training. My goal is to lose weight as well as be overall healthier.

  8. Mandee says

I will Commit to Fit. I go to fitness classes three days a week, soon to be four. I have more pounds and clothes sizes than I want to share left to lose. For now I want to focus on being able to complete a half marathon in April hosted by W.O.W. fitness. I would use the money to pay the dues and purchase new running shoes.

  9. Becky H says

I just recently started a work out program – walking 2 miles 6 out of 7 days of the week! It has been going well for about 2 weeks. I would use this money to invest in some new running shoes so I could start running again soon!!

  10. Kristen says

I’ve got about 20 lbs of baby weight to lose, and my baby turns 3 this weekend! I’d use the money for some new walking shoes and for a kettlebell or medicine ball (to go along with my treadmill and weights.) No more excuses, it’s time to commit to FIT!

  11. chas wilbur says

My journey started about a month ago. I am at the gym 4 days a week taking some workout classes and walking 3 times a week in the evening. I am down 7 lbs and very happy!!
I would use the money for a TRX class that I want to enroll in and this money would pay for it in full!

  12. deanna says

My goal: to start (and finish!) the C25K program.
My needs: an iPod (I washed ours with my husband’s workout clothes – erg!) and some real running shoes

  13. MH in OH says

My personal goal is to break 22 min for a Thanksgiving Day 5K. And especially to keep running daily despite the shorter hours of daylight.
I pledge to Commit to Fit!
I’d use the $$ for new running clothes – always motivating to have new gear!

  14. Christy says

I love walking and running and staying in shape. I’d buy a new pair of New Balance running shoes. Mine are great, but they’re over a year old and will probably bite the dust soon :)

  15. Jean says

I need to get back into a regular exercise routine. I would either use the $$ for some yoga classes or to put toward the purchase of a BodyBugg. My cousin has one, and said that it transformed her workout regimen – she wasn’t getting as much benefit from them as she thought she was. OR, I could buy a new pair of shoes to start running, so I could run w/my 13 y/0 nephew who is in cross country. so many choices…

  16. Jamie says

$100 would go towards prenatal yoga classes! My back could really use the stretch right about now!

  17. Paula says

I started the couch-to-5K program 4 weeks ago and am planning on running my first 5k on 12/3 – yeah me! I would us the $100 for more entry fees!

  18. says

What awesome timing! I recently joined Weight Watchers after realizing this pregnancy weight wasn’t going to melt off on it’s own. (My baby is a year now). I have committed to being more fit by making healthier food choices (and am still attempting to do it on my family’s $200/month food budget!). I have also been getting up extra early and have been walking/running. My goal is to prepare for a 5K. It’s a start, right?
    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
