I’m so glad I came across this post! The first paragraph changed my complete perspective. I feel that to many times couples face a brick wall when it comes to finances. One always feels as if it they are putting in more effort then the other. This post helps to see the balance.

My fiance and I are on Dave Ramsey money system too!! Oh my goodness, it is so much better for our relationship and we are so proud of ourselves for being dedicated to paying off debt – even during the planning of our wedding. He has a LARGE sum of student loans from med school, and I had a bit of credit card debt, so for us, it’s going to be a LONG process, but we are committed to it. I couldn’t recommend this program any stronger! That is so cool that you are on it too. It’s part of the reason I love this site – inexpensive meals that aren’t mac n’ cheese and top raman!

Erin, THANK YOU so much for having these guest posts! I was so pumped when it popped up on my twitter that part 2 was up. We are so far in that awful hole of debt but we do see hope! This post reminded me of our dream to move out of the Midwest to the only other place that has ever felt like home, SEATTLE! I wrote my friend who lives in Bellevue, WA right after I finished reading and asked her to print some of her favorite pics of Seattle for me to use as inspiration. I’m even more excited now and know that my husband and I will stay the course this year!

@flora, Yes, we definitely need to be more open. I'm so open right now I sometimes have to remind myself how uncomfortable others are about it before I go blurting out specific $$ information. I usually remember once they look askance and start to walk away...

@Katie clements, So wonderful that you and your husband are on board together! As hard as pay cuts are, I imagine they'd be that much worse if you both weren't on the same page about the finances.
