$100.
That’s it for the month. Yikes!
I wasn’t sure I could do it…all that’s left is $31.69!
This is my last shopping trip for this pantry challenge month…thankfully there is the awesome Mega Event Sale that continues into next week, so I can restock up on some essentials!!!
First stop…Walgreens…for diapers!
Bought 3 packs of Huggies diapers – used 3 $1 coupons and the $1 IVC coupon from the Children’s Activity book (sold by the pharmacy)…paid $22.65…got back $5 in Register Rewards.
Used the $5 RR to buy 2 apple juices and some flour (to make muffins!)…paid $1.29.
Got home to make muffins for snacks for the week…only to find we were out of eggs. (This crazy pantry challenge is almost over!)
Sent Steve to the store with 3 quarters, 2 dimes, 3 nickels and 4 pennies. No lie! $1.19 for a dozen eggs!
So far this week I’d spent $25.13
(Can you see that I am bound and determined to only spend $100 this month!!!)
It’s gonna be close.
Drumroll…………………….
Kroger
Free – 2 loaves of bread, toddler bath bar (used free item coupons and $1 off J&J coupon)
Produce – 2/$1 mangoes and an apple plus some bananas
Total spent at Kroger: $9.81
Total for the week: $34.94
Total for the month: $103.25
DOH! $3 and a quarter over!
Oh well…I enjoyed the challenge! Not gonna beat myself up over it! I’m thrilled that I spent just over $100 for the month. I look forward to getting back to regular $60/week grocery shopping! And it’s perfect timing…as the Kroger Mega Event Sale continues into next week! Next week’s agenda…STOCK UP!

You are amazing when it comes to shopping. I clip a coupon here and there and always shop the ad paper. I save but nothing close to what you do.
Do you use cloth bags? Here in WA Kroger is Fred Meyer and you get 5 cents back for every re-usable bag you use.
@DaMora,
I do most of the time…every now and again I leave them in the car!
Erin,
We’re blogging about you every Monday at http://www.thefrugalitarian.com and the response is great! Many people are entering for a chance to win your EXCELLENT cookbook. Love it!!! Don’t really want to give it away!! Fantastic ideas.

@Jodi Olson,
Thanks Jodi!!!
Ok, how did you get free coupons for Arnold bread? That is what we usually buy. I can usually get it on sale, but rarely do I see coupons for it.
@Shannon,
They were part of a care package that came for Blissdom attendees.
If you get the Grade B eggs, it’s less than a dollar for a dozen. They are just repackaged eggs – if one breaks in a carton, the rest of them have to be repackaged into a new carton and get called “Grade B.” There’s nothing wrong with them. They are always good and fresh. I often find Egglands Best or nice brown eggs in the carton when I buy them. I just can’t make myself spend $3 for a carton any more when I know I can get them for $.08/egg…
@Cara,
Interesting Cara! Thanks for sharing…I’ll check them out…have never noticed them in my store!
@Erin, The $5 Dinner Mom,
We have two King Soopers (aka Kroger in other locations) in town, and the grade B eggs are only consistently available at one of them for some reason. If you don’t see them (in a plain white foam egg carton at my store), ask!
@Cara,
Will do…thanks!
Keep in mind that you were paying taxes … I know it’s not much for the food (1%?) but higher for diapers. Consider that extra $3 protection from too many potholes while you drive
@Lisa,
LOL! Yes…no taxes on food here…but yes taxes on diapers! I’m thrilled to have gotten so close to $100!
I didn’t get to do the challenge this month so I plan to start in february. I am excited nad thank you for all your recipes.
If you didn’t count diapers in your grocery budget, you would have been way under your $100 goal. I need to put myself on a strict grocery budget – I spend WAY too much for just one person.
