HoHoHoHappy Holidays!!!

I’ve got a $50 Safeway Gift Card to give away to 2 readers…to help offset some of your food expenses this holiday season!

If your calendar and schedule look anything like mine, you might be pulling your hair out by now.  I’ll be lucky to get out Christmas cards, have all the gifts wrapped and under the tree before Christmas morning, and lest I forget, a delightful holiday feast on the table!

(I know, I know…I just had a baby…but we still gotta eat, there will be gifts, and maybe Christmas cards!)

(Maybe.)

OK, so here’s where Safeway can help…they have a slew of fantastic holiday recipes that will add some zest to your table without burning a hole in your pocket book!  Mmm…Peppered Beef Tenderloin Medallions, Cider-Glazed Pork Tenderloin, Walla Walla Salmon and more!

Not sure what main dish to serve for your holiday dinner!  Check out what’s on sale and then decide!  If you beef tenderloin is on sale at your store, then by all means…whip up the Peppered Beef Tenderloin Medallions!  Or the Cider-Glazed Pork if pork is on sale!

Y’all know me…plan your meal based on the sales!!!

Oh. Oh. They also have some great kid-friendly holiday treats…hello, FUDGE RING!  That’s really an everybody-friendly recipe…(I have a bit of a weak spot for chocolate…and fudge!) And be sure to check out their “Edible Gift” ideas!

***Gift card can be used at any of the following Safeway family stores: Carrs, Dominicks, Pavillions, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Vons and Genuardi’s

my best tip- only pay for presents with cash. We’ve done that the past several years, and in January when family is complaining about their credit card bills, we don’t have any!

My fav money saving tip is making homemade food gifts for teacher gifts. For the past few years I’ve made my special carmel corn and packaged it really cute. It always gets such nice compliments and is very frugal and oh so tasty!

My best money saving tip: As a new couponer, I’m taking advantage of coupons this year! Planning our holiday meals and goodies around sales and coupons will really cut our bill! In previous years November and December have been our most expensive food months, but no more!

My favorite way to save money this holiday season has been to follow these money saving blogs and snag as many deals as I can for cheap and free Christmas gifts. It has actually been really helpful!

Money saving tip: make your own stockings. I’ve turned old shirts into new stockings this year by cutting out the stocking pattern and sewing, and then allowing the kids to decorate them.

My best money-saving tip is to make homemade goodies as gifts. Fresh bread or cookies are a treat for neighbors or teachers.

Okay, my real best tip is to start your shopping on Dec 27- you can’t use it for this year, but it’ll soon be time for next year. Get wrapping paper and gifts on clearance after Christmas is over. Set aside a corner or box to put your stash in as the year progresses, so when you see a good deal for someone on your list, snag it (even if it is only June).

my best tip is to hit the clearance sales early. I got half of my Christmas shopping done over the summer. It definitely put me ahead of the game and saved money :)

This time of year is easy to overspend with all the sales and deals but I try to remind myself that it’s not a deal if I don’t really have the money for it.

A great money saving tip this time of year is to do your baking whenever you feel cold in your house. This way you get your baking done and you don’t have to turn your heater up to heat your house. (Chances are, your house will smell good too depending on what’s in the oven!)
