Right now I do not make my own baby food but it is my goal to make some over the next few weeks. My son just started solid foods this week so I am really excited to make different things for him to try out.

Yes! We definitely make our own baby food. If you have a Food Lion nearby, they have store coupons for produce occasionally! You can stock up on free produce! I flash freeze it until I have enough to make a batch of whatever.

My fifth child I made some of my own baby food and then supplemented with a jar or two if I ran out of the homemade stuff. No real tips since it was my first one, except to get lots of ice cube trays!

I am willing to try making my own baby food. I told myself I would with baby #1. Now she’s three… Baby #2 is getting close and we’re still in school… so I’d love to save some $ and know exactly what she’s getting. I’m feeling more committed this time around and I have more freezer space for the ice cube sized portions of food so I really could make my own baby food!

I don’t currently make it now, but I have for friends and find that using very small amounts of exotic spices can enhance flavor for your baby, such as curry or cinnamon. But again in very small amounts…

I do make my own baby food and the microwave, immersion blender and ice-cube trays are my best friends. Microwave the fruit or veggie until cooked soft, blend it up, then put it in ice-cube trays to freeze. SO easy! For more detailed directions check out http://bit.ly/makebabyfood

We made alot of our own baby food – fork mashed bananas and avocados, cooked loads of sweet potatoes, pumpkin, (it was fall when my son was starting solids), green beans, peas, etc. For the cooked food, we cooked it just like we would normally, then pureed it in the blender. We added breastmilk or water to thin it after we thawed it to eat.
When he was a little bit older, we used a food mill to grind up our own meals for him to eat.

I have made lots of baby food for my babes when they were little. I usually would make a “batch” and freeze them in ice cube trays. Then I could easily get out a couple of different foods at any time to feed my little ones.

My baby is just barely starting solids and I would love to make homemade baby food. My hubby and I are students still and on a budget, so I would like this to be as affordable as possible.
