Your cake looks great! You did a great job. I have been making my girls cakes for several years and a friend of mine gave me a great cake decorating tip. If you make your own buttercream frosting(which is so easy) you can let it dry a few minutes and then smooth it out with a Viva papertowel. It is like magic! All of the knife marks come out and you are left with a smooth cake that looks like it came from a bake shop. Viva papertowels are the only ones that don’t have a design in them and it won’t stick to the icing (given you let it dry a few minutes first). This will not work on store bought icing in the tub. It does not get a shell on it after it dries.
