Your garden looks great! I planted mine so late. I really hope that it comes in soon. It has been so cold and rainy here in Ut this summer, weird. Plus the baby blue jays next to my garden are litte pests. I had to build a “cage” with chicken wire around my whold garden to keep them out. I am learning that gardening is quite hard.

I love your square foot garden. I am doing a raised bed that is currently becoming overgrown. I have asparagas, eggplant, jalapeno pepper, green beans, corn, roma tomatos, and cucumber. Soon to add furrows of more corn and anything else I can stick in the ground. It is amazing what will grow in a small space. I also water from a sprinkler above the garden. Last year no pesticides what so ever, not even Seven dust. This year aphids are trying to take hold so a little seven to the rescue. Keep posting the pics.

Down in the south (where it’s 101 today) we’ve been going at it for a while. My son loves his garden and the fresh tomatoes and carrots.

I am also growing squash in my garden – any suggestions for a tasty recipe for yellow squash? I have a standard casserole recipe with soup and crackers but would like to add to my recipes. Thanks.

I was taking them before the lettuce head had appeared! My husband started going out and getting 1 leaf for his lunch sandwiches…then I got impatient and started picking a few leaves here and there for my salad. I was taking from the outside and I should have been taking from the inside…as more would have grown up from the middle. Live and learn!

Wait are you saying that you can start taking lettuce leaves from the plant instead of waiting until it’s all done? Or are you talking about a different kind I just have regular lettuce?

I was pulling the leaves from the outside when apparently taking them from the inside will tell the lettuce to keep growing from the inside.
