1. In large saucepan, add water and broth. Add diced or shredded cooked turkey. Add chopped onion and chopped celery.
2. Cut baby carrots in half and add to soup. Add 1 cup of wild rice mix to soup. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
3. Slit sweet potatoes with knife or vent with fork. Bake sweet potatoes at 350 for 1 hour in baking dish with 1/4 inch water. Cover with foil. Remove and let cool about 10 minutes. Peel skins off of the potato and mash. Serve with cinnamon and butter if you like. We eat them “plain”.
4. Eat warm delicious soup with a side of sweet potato!

That looks really good. We always use noodles, but I bet it would be tasty with rice!

We’ve been making a lot of soup in the crockpot lately, and I’ve been wondering about side dishes to go with soup. I usually just do some sort of bread or muffin, as the soups tend to be almost complete meals in and of themselves with protein, veggies, and some sort of starch. Some fruit would be probably be good.
I see that you served sweet potato with your soup, which I would never think to do. Any other thoughts on side dishes to go with soup?
Thanks!

Looks yummy, and a lot healthier than the cream-style turkey and wild rice soups I’ve made.

I think I have all the ingredients but the turkey broth – think chicken broth would be OK?
