Grocery Store "Restocking" Trip

Had to do a major “restock” after being on vacation for 2 weeks! I got whole slew of stuff for $89! Way over budget, so I’ll have to spend less the next few weeks to “make up for it”. I took advantage of the save $5 when you buy $25 worth of P&G products…really stretching it by using paper coupons and “e-coupons” to save the most I could. I ended up saving 41%.
Things I got free or nearly free…2 Cottonelle TPs, 1 Crest toothpaste, 2 Colgate toothpastes, beechnut baby foods (to donate), Simply Asia Thai Dinners (on closeout and had a coupon), PAM (on sale and a paper coupon and an “ecoupon“), 2 3-pack nighttime lavendar Johnson Buddies (on closeout and paper coupon), and a bag of Dole lettuce for $.50 on Manager’s Special…and lots more!
I had to buy several bags of produce to restock my produce drawers, including apples, oranges, grapefruits, potatoes, onions, broccoli, peppers, melon and bananas.
Hope y’all have a great week shopping this week!

Making dinner for my family of 4 for less than $5 a meal. Pull up a chair...there's plenty of room at the table!

  1. Looks like a good trip…I had to do some restocking this week too. The holidays really drained my stockpile.

  2. We have great stockpiles of canned food, so we only buy produce about once every 10 days or so. Helps our budget. Vikki http://www.survival-cooking.blogspot.com

  3. I really need to take some lessons from you – I thought you got a great haul for $89! If I could just spend $100/week I’d think I was successful.

I do lack the couponing skills you seem to have perfected – but I’m going to try and get there. So please keep up the great examples

  6. I haven’t shopped yet since two days after Christmas. And…I’ve decided to use up all the pantry things that have “old-ish” dates on them first. … plus I re-organized my downstairs pantry and discovered I have quite a few of some “samesies”…so…. this week I am doing pasta suppers… some soups and freezing a batch of stuff by adding a bit extra to each meal (kind of like planning for company, but it is for us instead)… I call them plan-overs. Maybe I’ll shop next week….

  7. I was so happy to read the recipe for Dominican Rice and beans ;) I am Dominican so that gave me a big smile ;P
I read on your comments of that day that people were concerned bc of the bag for isolation, I use a bag too, my whole family has all my life and no harm done here, but if you want you can substitute the bag for a porcelain plate it works the same ;)
